National Innovation Agency in Thailand | Gulf Analytica
Gulf Analytica: Thailand has long relied on agriculture as a vital pillar of its economy, being a major exporter of products like rice, cassava, meat, and poultry. In the field of agritech, Thailand is currently focused on agricultural biotechnology, farm robotics/mechanization, farm management software, novel farming systems (e.g., vertical farming), and post-harvest logistics. Efforts are also underway to establish agricultural digital marketplaces for farmers and develop e-grocery platforms to facilitate efficient distribution.Gulf Analytica: Recognizing the importance of international partnerships, the NIA acknowledges the need for the agritech start-up ecosystem to engage with global counterparts. They can cite several successful case studies where Thai start-ups, upon reaching the development phase, have expanded their technology exports and established overseas branches.
Dr. Pun-Arj Chairatana expressed to David Gibson Moore of GULF ANALYTICA that increasing cooperation with GCC-based companies, including agritech start-ups, would be highly rewarding and profitable. Both sides have tremendous potential to explore and capitalize on the vast opportunities within the agritech sector, fostering mutual growth and development.
